Claude Haiku 5.5 in a Discord Ticket Bot: What Changed

AI Ticket Bot now answers on Claude Haiku 5.5 by default. What changed for your server, why the AI covers more tickets a month, and when Sonnet is worth it.

A model change is usually invisible to the people running a server. This one is worth five minutes, because it changed a number most admins care about: how many tickets the AI can answer before the month's allowance runs out.

What changed on October 9?

The model that writes your AI's replies. Release v2.5.16 made Anthropic's Claude Haiku 5.5 the default for every server on our AI. The previous default, Claude Haiku 4.5, was retired from the model picker the same day.

  1. September 29, 2026

    Claude Sonnet 5.5 added

A heavier model for servers that want it

  2. October 9, 2026

Claude Haiku 5.5 becomes the default

Every server on the old default is moved

  3. October 9, 2026

    Claude Haiku 4.5 retired

It no longer appears in the picker

If your server had picked a Sonnet model by hand, it stayed on that model. If it connects its own AI provider, nothing changed for it at all.

Do you need to do anything?

No. The move happened on our side. The bot was not re-invited, no command had to be run, and no setting was reset.

Two places show which model your server is on:

/ai usage
The model in use, what a ticket costs on it, and how much of this month's allowance is spent
/ai model
The model picker, with every model we offer and about how many tickets a month your plan covers on each

Both are also on the dashboard, on your server's AI page. Changing the model needs Manage Server.

Why does the AI answer more tickets now?

Because each ticket costs fewer tokens. Every plan comes with a monthly allowance of AI tokens. A token is the unit the AI provider bills in, and a ticket uses some for every reply. The allowance did not change. What a ticket costs did.

We measure the cost of an average ticket on each model from real conversations. On Haiku 5.5 it is a small fraction of what it was on the old default, so the same allowance stretches much further.

What the AI answers a month on the default model, October 2026

Free
More than 300 average tickets. We stated 38 on the old default
Premium
More than 2,000
Pro
More than 11,000
Every plan
Tickets themselves are unlimited. Only the AI's answers use the allowance

Read those as estimates. A server with long conversations uses more per ticket and a server with short ones uses less. The numbers move as the measurement updates, so the pricing page prints the current figures and this article gives floors.

It is worth being exact about what the figure is. It is not a cap on tickets. A member can always open a ticket and your staff can always answer it, on every plan. The figure is how many tickets the AI answers before it has to stop for the month.

Are the answers better, or only cheaper?

Better too, and we will not put a number on it. In our release note we said the new model understands support tickets better and uses fewer tokens for each reply. That is our own view from running it before the release. It is not a published benchmark, and you should judge it on your own tickets.

What decides answer quality has not changed, and it is still not the model:

  • Teach the AI your rules, prices and common answers

A model that was never told your refund policy will not know it, whichever model it is

  • Read the tickets staff had to take over

They show what the AI is missing

  • Expect a new model to fix answers nobody taught

The model writes. Your server's knowledge is what it writes from

If you have not taught the AI since setup, training it will do more for your answers than any model change.

When is a Sonnet model still worth it?

When tickets need judgment and you have allowance to spare. The picker still offers Claude Sonnet 5.5, Claude Sonnet 5 and Claude Sonnet 4.6. They reason further on tickets where several rules have to be weighed together. They also cost ten times as much per ticket as the default, or more.

Stay on Haiku 5.5

  • Most tickets are one question with one answer
  • The AI gets it right once it has been taught
  • Your allowance runs close to the limit
  • You are on the Free plan

Move to a Sonnet model

  • Tickets often need several rules weighed at once
  • It was taught the rule and still applied it wrongly
  • You end most months with tokens to spare
  • You are on a paid plan with room to spend

The gap between the two is wider than it was. On the old default a Sonnet model cost a few times more. Now it is ten times or more, because the default got so much lighter. A server that moved to Sonnet earlier in the year should look at the picker again. The confirm screen shows tickets a month before and after any switch, and choosing a model covers the decision in full.

What did not change?

Everything around the reply.

The same on Haiku 5.5 as before

What the AI knows
Its memory and your rules belong to your server
Its limits
It does not invent a price or a policy, and it hands requests only staff can approve to your staff
Where it answers
Tickets, AI FAQ channels and the website chat all use the one model
One model per server
There is no per-category model
Your plan and price
Nothing about billing changed

What this does not mean

The honest list.

Good fit

  • The same plan now has the AI answering several times more tickets
  • No action needed and nothing lost in the move
  • Free servers get the same model as paid ones

Not the right call

  • It is not unlimited AI. The allowance still runs out, and the AI stops until it resets
  • It does not make an untaught AI correct
  • The ticket figures are estimates and they will move
  • Haiku 4.5 cannot be picked again on our models

When the allowance does run out, tickets keep working for your staff and the AI starts again when it resets. A token pack tops it up without a plan change. Servers on Pro can also connect their own AI provider, which takes replies off the plan's allowance altogether.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Since October 9, 2026 Claude Haiku 5.5 is the default model for every server that uses our AI, on every plan including Free. Servers that ran the previous default, Claude Haiku 4.5, were moved to it automatically.

No. If your server was on the default model it was moved when the release went out. Nothing was reinstalled and the bot was not re-invited. You can confirm the model your server runs with /ai usage in Discord or on the AI page of the dashboard.

No. What the AI was taught belongs to your server, not to the model. Its memory, your rules and your past tickets were not touched. The new model reads the same knowledge and writes the replies.

At the time of writing, in October 2026, the AI answers more than 300 average tickets a month on the Free plan, up from the 38 we stated on the previous default. Tickets themselves are unlimited on every plan. The figure is an estimate that moves, and the pricing page shows the current one.

It reasons further on tangled tickets and it costs ten times as much per ticket, or more. For servers where most tickets are one question with one answer, the default is enough. Move to a Sonnet model when you can name answers the default got wrong after it was taught the rule.

Not on our models. Claude Haiku 4.5 left the model picker when Haiku 5.5 became the default. The picker now lists Claude Haiku 5.5, Claude Sonnet 5.5, Claude Sonnet 5 and Claude Sonnet 4.6. A Pro server that connects its own AI provider chooses from whatever its own account offers.
