Discord Bot Not Showing Commands? Every Cause and How to Fix It
Bot commands not showing, a bot missing from the member list or stuck offline: every cause a server admin can check, in order, and the setting that fixes it.

This page is for the person who added the bot, not the person who built it. Everything below is checked in Discord's own settings, roughly in the order it turns up, and applies to any bot, from a music bot to a Discord ticket bot. The last two sections cover AI Ticket Bot.
What are you seeing?
Find your symptom first.
| What you see | The likely cause |
|---|---|
| None of the bot's commands, for anyone | A rule in Integrations, or a very old invite |
| Admins see the commands, members do not | A permission, or commands meant for admins |
| Commands work in one channel, not another | That channel denies Use Application Commands |
| A new command from an update is missing | Your Discord app still has the old list |
| Commands show, then "The application did not respond" | The bot is offline |
| The bot is not in the member list | It cannot see that channel, or it is offline on a big server |
Why is a Discord bot not showing slash commands?
Check these five, in this order.
Check Integrations
Server Settings, then Integrations, then the bot, then Manage. The top sets which roles, members and channels may use its commands, and each command can have its own rules. A role or channel switched off there sees nothing
Check Use Application Commands
A Discord permission on roles and channels. Where it is denied, no bot's commands appear. Look at @everyone under Server Settings, Roles, then at the channel's permissions under Edit Channel
Check who the command is for
A bot can mark a command as needing Manage Server, and Discord hides it from everyone without it, on purpose. Integrations can still open it to a role
Re-invite the bot
Discord now includes permission to create commands in every bot invite, so this hits bots added years ago or through a hand-made link. Open the bot's invite link and authorize it for the same server. No need to remove it first
Reload Discord
Ctrl+R on Windows, Cmd+R on a Mac. On a phone, close the app fully and reopen it
The second check explains the classic "works everywhere except one channel": that channel denies Use Application Commands to @everyone or to the member's role. On forums, the fourth is called the applications.commands scope.
The bot's own role does not decide this. A bot with too few permissions still has its commands listed and fails only when it acts, which ticket bot permissions covers. In a direct message, a bot's server commands never appear.
Why is the bot not showing new commands?
Usually because your Discord app still holds the list it loaded earlier. Discord takes a new or renamed command quickly on its side, but an app left open for days can keep the old picker. Reload first, as above.
Still missing? The command may have a new name, since bots merge and rename commands: run the bot's help command, usually /help, for the current list. Or it follows your limits: if Integrations restricts the bot to some roles or channels, a new command inherits that.
Why is the bot not showing up in the server or member list?
Discord's member list belongs to the channel you are looking at. It lists the people who can see that channel. If the bot's role lacks View Channel there, the bot is left out, while still being in the server.
Where the bot went
- Missing from one channel's list
- It cannot see that channel. Give its role View Channel there
- Missing on a big server
- Large servers leave offline members out of the list
- Listed under another name
- A nickname, or a custom name you gave it, shows instead
- Under Online, not under its role
- Its role is not set to show its members separately
- Gone from everywhere
- The invite went to another server, or it was removed
For the last row, open Server Settings, then Integrations, which lists every bot in the server. If it is not there, the Audit Log shows who removed it. A security bot that removes new bots not on its allowed list is a common cause: allow it there, then invite it again. On the invite page, check the server picker. It only lists servers where you have Manage Server.
To give the bot its own group in the list, open its role under Server Settings, Roles and turn on the option that shows the role's members separately.
Why is the bot not showing online?
Its program is not connected to Discord. Only the people who run the bot can fix that. You can find out which side the problem is on:
- The bot's status page or support server. Ours is /status.
- Discord's own status page, when several bots go offline at once.
- A reload, since an app open for days can still show a returned bot as offline.
One clue: an offline bot keeps its commands in the picker, and running one gets "The application did not respond". So if commands are missing entirely, offline is not the reason. What an outage does to open tickets and when a ticket button fails cover the rest.
Which AI Ticket Bot commands should you see?
It depends on whether you have Manage Server. Start with /setup. It needs Manage Server and runs only on a server with no panel yet, building a staff role, a ticket category, a panel channel and a live panel in one step. After that, /help lists every command by topic.
- /setup
- The panel, ticket category and staff role in one step. Manage Server
- /help
- Every command by topic. With no panel yet, an admin sees /setup, /ai train and /panel first
- /ping
- Whether the bot, its database and its AI are answering. Anyone
- /invite
- The invite link, support server and dashboard. Use it to re-invite
- /ai channel
- Where the AI answers outside tickets. Back in this release. Manage Server
Discord hides four from anyone without Manage Server: /panel, /language, /whitelabel and /subscription. Everything else shows to everyone, staff commands like /ticket claim included, because Discord cannot hide a command behind a staff permission that belongs to the bot. A member who runs one gets a private reply naming what is missing. Opening a command to a role in Integrations changes who sees it, never what they may do: the bot checks every run.
Our invite already asks for permission to create commands, so on a fresh invite, check Integrations and Use Application Commands first. If you renamed the bot with /whitelabel, look for that name in the member list. The full command list says who may run each one.
Why is a role or channel missing from the dashboard?
Press Refresh from Discord under the picker. The dashboard keeps a copy of your server's roles and channels for a few minutes, so a role made in Discord a moment ago may not be listed yet. The link reloads the list from Discord.
With this release, Settings has it too:
Where Refresh from Discord sits
- Settings, Staff, Add role
- Under the Role picker: "Missing a role?"
- Settings, Ticket rules
- Under the category picker for claimed tickets: "Missing a category?"
- Settings, Other bots
- In a connected bot's settings: "Missing a role or a category?"
- The panel editor
- Under its channel pickers: "Missing a channel?"
A notice says Lists refreshed when it worked.
Still missing? It may be left out on purpose. The staff role picker skips @everyone, roles a bot or an integration manages, such as a bot's own role or Server Booster, and roles already on staff. Only the server owner and people with Manage Server can open the dashboard at all, as what the dashboard does explains.
What no setting can fix
Good fit
- Integrations can hide any command from a role or a channel
- A re-invite adds what was missing without removing the bot
- Refresh from Discord pulls in a role or channel made a minute ago
Not the right call
- Integrations changes who sees a command, never what the bot allows
- Discord cannot hide our staff commands from members. They are refused when run
- Administrators see every command, so an admin's view proves nothing
- Nobody in your server can bring an offline bot back online

Frequently asked questions
Usually a permission. Open Server Settings, then Integrations, then the bot, and look for roles or channels that are switched off. Then check that the member's roles and the channel allow Use Application Commands. If both are fine, reload Discord with Ctrl+R, or close the phone app fully and open it again.
Discord lets anyone with the Administrator permission use every command, whatever the server's settings say, and many bots hide their admin commands from everyone else on purpose. Your own view proves nothing. Ask a member to type a slash and look, or test with an account that has no staff role.
Your Discord app is still holding the list it loaded earlier. Press Ctrl+R on Windows or Cmd+R on a Mac to reload, and on a phone close the app fully and open it again. If the command is still missing, it may have been renamed, so run the bot's help command for the current list.
The member list shows only the people who can see the channel you are in, so a bot without View Channel there is left out. Large servers also hide offline members. Look for any nickname you gave it, and check Server Settings, then Integrations, to confirm it is in the server at all.
Its program is not connected to Discord, and only the people who run the bot can fix that. Check the bot's status page or support server, then Discord's own status. Its commands stay in the picker while it is offline, but running one gets The application did not respond.
The dashboard keeps a copy of your server's roles and channels for a few minutes, so one you just made in Discord may not be listed yet. Press Refresh from Discord under the picker. The staff role picker also leaves out roles a bot or integration manages, and roles that are already staff.
