Discord FAQ Template: Copy and Paste Text for Your FAQ Channel

Copy and paste Discord FAQ templates for gaming, community and shop servers, how to format a FAQ channel so it renders, and when an AI FAQ channel helps.

Most FAQ channels are either a wall of text nobody reads on a phone, or written once and never touched again. The templates here are short, use the words members actually type, and each fits in one message any admin can fix in a minute. For the text inside tickets, see Discord ticket templates.

What goes in a Discord FAQ channel?

Short answer: the questions members actually ask, in their words, each with a one or two line answer. Not your rules, which have their own channel, and not every edge case.

Scroll your help channel and last month's tickets for anything asked more than once. Most servers end up with ten to fifteen, grouped under three or four headings such as joining, roles, buying and reporting.

  • How do I get the Member role?

The member's own words, so it is what they scan for

  • Role acquisition process

    Nobody has ever typed this

  • Ranks arrive in game within 10 minutes

A fact they can act on

  • Contact staff about rank issues

Sends them straight back to a person

How do you format a FAQ in Discord?

Short answer: with the markdown you type in any message. Headers, lists and links all render in a normal message, so a FAQ needs no bot embed. Paste this anywhere to see each one:

# Big header
### Small header
-# Small grey text, good for "Last updated"
**bold** *italic* __underline__ ~~strikethrough~~
||hidden until someone taps it||
- a bullet point
1. a numbered step
> a quote
[link text](https://example.com)
`code, easy to copy`

A ## header sits between those two sizes. The templates use # for the title and ### for sections, so the big text stays on one line.

What trips people up

Headers
Only at the start of a line, with a space after the #
Channel links
Type # and pick the channel, then check it shows as a link
Length
2,000 characters per message, 4,000 with Nitro
Order
Discord opens a channel at the newest message, so what you post last is read first
Role mentions
Posting one can ping the role. Add it in an edit and nobody is notified
Spoilers
Hide long answers so the questions scan, at the cost of a tap each

After pasting a template, retype each #channel so Discord offers the real one. A bot embed can look tidier, but only a bot can edit it, and a plain message any admin can fix is worth more.

Commission work runs for weeks, and a FAQ only covers the start. Commission tickets covers the rest.

How do you set up a FAQ channel in Discord?

  1. Collect the questions

What your help channel and tickets get asked every week

  2. Create a read-only channel

Call it faq and turn off Send Messages for @everyone

  3. Post one message per section

Paste a template, fix the brackets, retype each #channel

  4. Post the index last

A short message linking each section, made with Copy Message Link

  5. Point people at it

Your welcome message, your Server Guide if you use one, and a pin in chat

Pins belong in your chat channels, not the FAQ. Pin one line in #general, such as "Questions? Check #faq first, or ask in #ask-the-bot." Many members never open the pins, so a pin is a backup, not the plan. When an answer changes, edit its message and the Last updated line rather than posting a new one.

Why do members still ask what the FAQ answers?

Short answer: asking is easier than reading, and many members never open the channel. They join from an invite, land in #general and type. Other usual reasons:

  • They asked in their own words, and the FAQ uses yours
  • On a phone, the FAQ is a long scroll and the message box is right there
  • The answer changed and the FAQ did not

A FAQ cuts repeat questions but never ends them, and treating a repeat question as rude is how a server starts to feel hostile to new members. Answer with a link to the right FAQ message instead of retyping it, and reword a question in the FAQ when members keep asking it differently. Reducing support volume has more.

Can a bot answer the questions your FAQ misses?

Short answer: yes, that is what an AI FAQ channel is for. With AI Ticket Bot, you pick channels where the AI answers members' questions in the open, from what your staff taught it, as it does in tickets. Keep the FAQ read-only and put the AI channel beside it, such as #ask-the-bot.

An AI FAQ channel

  • Members ask in their own words
  • It can check the asker's roles when the answer depends on them
  • Runs on AI Ticket Bot, one channel on the Free plan
  • You update it by teaching it the change

A FAQ channel

  • Members scroll and read
  • Everyone reads the same answer
  • Works with no bot at all
  • You update it by editing a message

Run /ai channel to add one. Every plan has them: one on Free, three on Premium and five on Pro. Each answers only when the bot is mentioned, or every message, and a channel with no slowmode gets 10 seconds. The AI FAQ channel guide covers which mode fits where and what it costs.

Then teach it the FAQ with /ai train: paste the text you just posted, or attach it as a file. Do not count on it reading the FAQ channel by itself. How to train an AI ticket bot covers what makes a fact usable.

What the AI does in that channel

Answers
In a few sentences, from what your staff taught it
Links
Finds a channel the asker can see and posts it as a link
Needs a person
Tells them to open a ticket, with a link to where tickets open
Personal details
Never asks for them or repeats them, because the channel is public
Your budget
Answers use the same AI allowance as tickets

Can the AI check roles or block people in a FAQ channel?

Yes, since the October 2026 release. Both already worked inside tickets.

It can check the asker's roles. When an answer depends on a role, it looks up the roles of the member who asked, and only theirs. Teach it "VIPs get the new map a day early in #vip-news" and each member gets their own answer:

MemberToday at 21:04

when do we get the new map?

AI Ticket Bot
AI Ticket BotAPPToday at 21:05

You have the VIP role, so it is already open for you in #vip-news. Everyone else gets it tomorrow.

It never looks up anyone else's roles, and never pings one.

It can block a member who keeps abusing it. Its rules set a high bar: at least two clear warnings that say what happens next, then the same spam, insults, scam or manipulation again. A blocked member gets no more AI answers and cannot open tickets. It is not for frustration, disagreement or one rude message, and threats or harassment are left to your team: it tells the member to open a ticket. Staff and admins are never blocked, and the bot enforces that one itself.

Each block carries the AI's reason, and can end on a date or be permanent. /blacklist shows it with an Unblock button. Stopping spam tickets covers blocks in general.

Where a FAQ channel and the AI stop

The honest list.

Good fit

  • A FAQ channel works with no bot and costs nothing
  • An AI FAQ channel is on every plan, one channel on Free
  • Members ask in their own words and get what you taught it

Not the right call

  • A FAQ goes stale unless someone edits it
  • Members still skip it. It cuts repeat questions, it does not end them
  • The AI answers from what you taught it, so the FAQ has to be taught too
  • It cannot call staff or open a ticket from that channel, only point to one
  • When the AI allowance runs out, the channel goes quiet with no message

Frequently asked questions

Yes. This page has four: a Minecraft server, a FiveM or roleplay server, a community server and a shop or commissions server. Each fits in one Discord message. Replace the parts in square brackets with your own details, then retype each channel name after the # so Discord turns it into a link.

Create a text channel called faq, open its permissions and turn off Send Messages for @everyone so it stays read-only. Post one message per topic, each under 2,000 characters, then post a short index last, because Discord opens a channel at its newest message. Link the channel from your welcome message and your chat channels.

Type # in the message and pick the channel from the list that appears. It shows as a highlighted link members can tap. To link one message instead, such as a section of your FAQ, right-click or long-press it, choose Copy Message Link and paste that link into your text.

Yes. If members can post there, their questions bury the answers within a day. Keep the FAQ read-only and give questions their own channel next to it, such as ask-the-bot or help, where staff or an AI can answer.

Yes. With AI Ticket Bot you pick AI FAQ channels where the AI answers members' questions in the channel, from what your staff taught it. Every plan has them: one channel on Free, three on Premium and five on Pro. Each channel answers only when the bot is mentioned, or every message. Run /ai channel to set them up.

Yes, since October 2026. When an answer depends on a role, it can check the roles of the member who asked, and only theirs. After at least two clear warnings, it can block a member who keeps spamming, insulting people or trying to manipulate it, from its answers and from tickets. It never blocks staff, and you can lift any block with /blacklist.

See it on your own server.

Add the bot free, teach it a few of your most common answers, and watch it clear the repeat tickets on its own.

Free plan, no card. Premium is free for 14 days once your tickets are live.
