Discord Ticket Panel Image: How to Add a Banner That Does Not Break

How to put an image or banner on a Discord ticket panel, which links work, why a picture pasted from Discord disappears after a day, and how to fix it.

A ticket panel is the message with the button members press to open a ticket. A banner on it is the quickest way to make the panel look like it belongs to your server. It is also the part that breaks most often, almost always for one reason.

How do you add an image to a ticket panel?

Host the picture, paste the link, publish. These steps are for AI Ticket Bot, and the idea is the same on any Discord ticket bot.

  1. Upload the picture to an image host

Any public host works. The bot's own messages suggest imgbb when a link fails

  2. Copy the link

The link to the picture, or the page it is on. The bot finds the picture on common hosts by itself

  3. Open the panel

The panel editor in the dashboard, or /panel in Discord and pick the panel

  4. Paste it into an image field

The big image, the thumbnail, or an image block in the modern layout

  5. Publish

In the dashboard the button reads Update Discord. In Discord it is Publish

  6. Look at it on a phone

The banner is much narrower there

The bot checks the link when you save. If it does not lead to a usable picture, the save is refused with the reason, so a broken banner is caught before members see it.

Where can an image go on a panel?

Four places in the classic layout, and as many image blocks as you like in the modern one.

Image places on a panel

Big image
Across the bottom of the classic panel. The banner
Thumbnail
Small, in the top right corner. Good for a logo
Author icon
A tiny picture beside the author line at the top
Footer icon
Beside the footer. Not available on the free plan
Image block
Modern layout. A gallery of up to 10 pictures, placed where you want it
Text with a small image
Modern layout. A paragraph with a picture beside it

All of these are on every plan except the footer and its icon, which carry "Powered by AI Ticket Bot" on the free plan.

The thumbnail does a second job. It is reused as the small picture on the welcome message inside every new ticket. The welcome message has no large banner of its own. Panel design covers the two layouts and everything else you can change.

Why does the image disappear after a day?

Because the link came from a file uploaded to Discord. This is the most common panel problem there is.

When you drop a picture into a Discord channel and copy its link, the link carries an expiry. It works when you paste it, the panel looks right, and about a day later the banner is an empty space. Nothing changed on the bot. The link died.

AI Ticket Bot refuses these links when you save, with this explanation:

A link to a file someone uploaded to Discord stops working after about a day, so the image would break by itself. Upload the image to an image host and paste that link instead. A Discord server icon or avatar link is fine, those do not expire.

The exception in the last sentence is useful. Your server's icon, a member's avatar, a custom emoji and a server banner all have permanent links, and those are accepted.

A public link to a real picture works. Anything private, expiring or not a picture does not.

What you pasteWhat happens
A direct link ending in .png, .jpg, .gif or .webpSaved
The page of a picture on a common image hostThe bot finds the picture and saves its direct link
A share link from Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive or GitHubTurned into a direct link and saved
A link to a file uploaded to DiscordRefused. It would expire
A link to a Discord messageRefused. It is not a picture
A web page with no picture the bot can findRefused. Open the picture alone and copy that link
An SVG, BMP, TIFF or HEIC fileRefused. Save it as PNG or JPG

Two smaller things the bot does for you. It adds https:// when you leave it out, and it unwraps a link that was pasted inside angle brackets or a sentence.

One case is not in your hands. Now and then Discord fails to load a picture from a host even though the link is fine. The panel then shows an empty space, and Discord remembers the failure for that exact link, so publishing again does not help. The fix is a new link: upload the same picture again and paste the new address. The bot checks its own post shortly after publishing, and tells you this if you save the same link again.

What size and format should the image be?

There is no required size. Use a wide picture for the banner and a square one for the thumbnail.

Discord scales the picture to the width of the message, and that width is much smaller on a phone than on a desktop. That leads to three practical rules.

  • Keep words in the banner large and few. Small text is unreadable on a phone
  • Leave space around the edges, because the picture may be cropped
  • Use PNG or JPG for a still picture, GIF for a short animation
  • Keep the file light. A banner that takes seconds to load looks broken
  • Check dark and light theme if the picture has a transparent background

The bot does not judge the size or shape of a panel picture. It only checks that the link leads to a real image in a format Discord shows.

Can members send images inside a ticket?

Yes. This is a different thing from the panel image, and it is the more useful one. A ticket is a normal channel, so a member can attach a screenshot of the problem.

On AI Ticket Bot the AI reads images a member attaches, up to 5 MB each and five files per message. It can read a screenshot of an error and answer it. When the ticket closes, the transcript keeps a link to each attachment. Screenshots in tickets covers what the AI can and cannot read.

If your staff often ask members to "send a picture", put that in the welcome message so members attach one before anyone has to ask.

What a panel image cannot do

The honest list, for AI Ticket Bot.

Good fit

  • Images are on every plan, in both layouts
  • A bad link is refused when you save, with the reason
  • Page links from common hosts are turned into picture links for you

Not the right call

  • You cannot upload a file to the panel. It is always a link
  • If the host removes the picture later, the banner breaks and nobody is told
  • The welcome message in a ticket takes the thumbnail only, not a banner
  • The footer icon is not available on the free plan
  • A picture never fixes an unclear panel. The words still do the work

The second limit is worth a habit: look at your panel after you change the banner, and again a few days later. If the picture is gone, a new upload and a new link fix it in a minute.

Frequently asked questions

Upload the picture to an image host, copy its link, and paste the link into the image field of the panel in your ticket bot. On AI Ticket Bot that is the panel editor in the dashboard, or /panel in Discord, and it is on every plan. Then publish the panel so the post in Discord updates.

Most often because the link came from a file uploaded to Discord. Those links stop working after about a day, so the picture shows at first and then breaks. Upload the image to an image host and use that link. The second common cause is a host that blocks bots, which shows as an empty space from the start.

On most ticket bots, no. A panel stores a link and Discord loads the picture from it. AI Ticket Bot works this way: you paste a link, and the bot checks that it leads to a real image before it saves it.

PNG, JPG, GIF and WEBP are the safe ones, and an animated GIF plays. On AI Ticket Bot AVIF is accepted too, while SVG, BMP, TIFF and HEIC are refused. The bot reads the file itself, not the ending of the link, so a renamed file does not get through.

Discord has no required size and scales the picture to fit the message. A wide image suits the large slot at the bottom, and a square one suits the small thumbnail in the corner. Keep important text away from the edges and check the panel on a phone, where the banner is much narrower.

Yes. A ticket is a normal channel and members can attach screenshots and files. On AI Ticket Bot the AI can read images a member attaches, up to 5 MB each, and the transcript keeps a link to each attachment.
