Support Will Be With You Shortly: What That Discord Ticket Message Means
Support will be with you shortly means your Discord ticket is open and staff have not answered yet. What to do while you wait, and what the buttons do.

The full line often reads "Support will be with you shortly. To close this ticket press the close button." Other bots word it differently. Ours says "A staff member will join shortly." The meaning is the same on every Discord ticket bot: you are in the right place, and a person has not arrived yet.
What does the message mean?
It means the ticket opened correctly. A private channel now exists that you, the server's staff and the bot can see. Everything you write there is kept for the staff member who picks it up.
It is not a promise about time. "Shortly" is written once by whoever set the bot up, and it is posted on every ticket, at three in the morning the same as at noon.
On AI Ticket Bot the first message looks like this:

Ticket #128 opened. Welcome! A staff member will join shortly. Feel free to describe your issue in detail while you wait. The more context, the faster we can help.
Under it are the ticket's buttons. If the server asked you questions before the ticket opened, your answers are posted there too, so you do not need to repeat them.
What should you do while you wait?
Write the whole question in one message, then stop. A staff member who opens a ticket and finds only "hi" has to ask what you need and wait for you. That doubles the time.
Say what happened, what you expected and what you already tried
Staff can answer in one reply
Add a screenshot or the exact error text
It removes the first question they would ask
Stay in the ticket you have
Your whole history is in one place
Writing only "hello" or "anyone?"
It tells staff nothing and starts a second round
Opening a second ticket for the same thing
It splits the conversation, and many servers refuse it
Messaging a staff member privately
Most teams answer tickets only, and some treat it as a rule break
Pinging staff roles again and again
It moves you down, not up
If the server uses an AI assistant, it may answer first. That is not a brush-off. Answer it as you would a person. If it cannot help, it hands the ticket to the staff and says so. Opening a ticket covers the steps before this message.
How long does it take?
As long as that server's staff take. There is no queue number and no timer. Discord does not run the ticket and neither does the bot. People on that server do.
Most communities are run by volunteers. A busy server at a busy hour answers in minutes. A small one may answer the next day. Some servers set support hours and say so on the panel.
A few things are worth knowing about the wait:
- Staff may not have been notified. Many servers do not ping staff for each new ticket. They check the list when they are online.
- A name on the ticket is a good sign. If a message says someone claimed your ticket, that person has taken it and will reply. Claiming explains what that means.
- A reminder may come to you. If staff answer and you go quiet, some bots send you a direct message so the ticket does not sit forgotten.
- Silence can close it. On some servers a ticket with no reply from you for a long time closes by itself, after a warning.
If a full day passes with nothing, one polite line in the ticket is reasonable. For real urgency, say why it is urgent in the ticket. Staff can raise a ticket's priority, and a reason helps them do it.
What do the buttons under the message do?
Close ends the ticket. That is the only one meant for you.
The buttons on a new ticket
- Close
- Ends the ticket for good and removes the channel. Press it only when you are done
- Claim
- For staff. It puts a staff member's name on the ticket
- Unclaim
- For staff. It gives the ticket back to the team
"To close this ticket press the close button" is an instruction for later, not something to do now. Closing does not submit your question. It does the opposite: the channel goes away and you would have to start again. On AI Ticket Bot a closed ticket cannot be reopened. What happens when you close a ticket has the details.
If you press Close and nothing happens, that server lets only staff close tickets, and the bot tells you so.
For admins: is this message working for you?
The default line promises "shortly" on your behalf. Make it true or change it. On AI Ticket Bot the welcome message is yours to edit on every plan, per panel.
- Say your real hours or usual answer time in the welcome text
- Ask for the details you always need: an order number, a username, a screenshot
- Tell members not to message staff privately
- Decide whether new tickets ping a staff role. It is off until you turn it on
- If the AI answers first, keep its greeting and the welcome text from asking the same thing twice
The ping is the setting most servers miss. After /setup, a new ticket does not ping anyone, so staff find it when they look. Turn on "Ping the role on every new ticket" for a panel if your team wants to be called, and leave it off if the AI handles the first reply. Staff pings covers every case.
If staff go quiet on a ticket where the member is waiting, the bot posts a reminder for them in the ticket on paid plans. And the welcome message covers how to write the text itself.
What the message does not tell you
The honest list, for AI Ticket Bot.
Good fit
- The ticket is open and saved from the first second
- An AI assistant, where the server uses one, can answer in seconds
- Staff who claim the ticket are named to the member
Not the right call
- No place in a queue and no estimated wait is shown
- Staff are not pinged on a new ticket unless an admin turned that on
- The default wording says "shortly" at any hour of the day
- Reminders for slow staff replies are on paid plans only
For a member, the takeaway is short: write the full question, stay in one ticket, and give the team time. For an admin, edit the message so that what it promises is what your team does.

Frequently asked questions
It is the automatic first message a ticket bot posts when your ticket opens. It means the ticket exists and the server's staff can see it. It does not mean a person has read it yet. Write your question in the ticket straight away so the first staff member who opens it can answer.
It depends on the server, not on Discord or the bot. Most servers are run by volunteers in their free time, so an answer can take minutes at a busy hour and many hours overnight. The bot does not show a place in a queue or a waiting time. A server with an AI assistant in its tickets answers common questions in seconds.
Only when your question is answered. The Close button ends the ticket for good and removes the channel. It does not send or submit anything. If you pressed it by mistake, open a new ticket.
Make sure your question is written in the ticket, then wait. Do not open a second ticket and do not message staff privately, because both slow things down. If a full day passes, one polite message in the ticket is fine. Staff decide the order they answer in.
Not always. Many servers do not ping their staff for every new ticket, so staff see it when they next look at the ticket list. On AI Ticket Bot the ping on a new ticket is off until an admin turns it on. Either way the ticket stays open and visible to staff until somebody deals with it.
Yes, on most ticket bots. On AI Ticket Bot the welcome message is set per panel in the dashboard or through /panel, on every plan. You can change the title, the text and the line above it, and say how long an answer usually takes on your server.
It’s not just an AI, it’s your AI.
